Accessibility

Built to be usable by the people who do the work.

Shelter and rescue staff work under pressure, in varied environments, with diverse physical and cognitive needs. WhiskerMatch is designed to be accessible — not as a compliance layer, but as a practical requirement.

Commitments

WCAG 2.1 Level AA is the target.

We aim for WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance across all public and product surfaces. This is a target, not a certificate — we test continuously and fix what we find.

Keyboard navigation

All interactive elements are reachable and operable by keyboard. No traps, no hidden focus states, no reliance on mouse-only gestures.

Screen reader support

Landmarks, headings, labels, and ARIA attributes are used consistently. Mock previews and visual elements include text alternatives.

Color independence

Information is never conveyed by color alone. Status indicators use text, shape, and pattern in addition to color.

Minimum touch targets

Tap targets are at least 44×44 CSS pixels on mobile. Buttons and links are spaced to prevent accidental activation.

Known limitations

Honest about what is not there yet.

Accessibility is continuous work. These are the areas we are actively improving, not ignoring.

Mock previews

Product mock previews are illustrative visual components. We are improving their screen reader descriptions and keyboard navigability.

Reduced motion

We respect prefers-reduced-motion for CSS animations. Some JavaScript-driven transitions may not yet fully respect this preference.

Complex tables

Data tables in mock previews may not yet have full responsive card alternatives or complete screen reader context on mobile.

Third-party embeds

Any third-party content we embed in the future will be reviewed for accessibility before it ships.

Feedback

Tell us what is blocking you.

If you encounter an accessibility barrier, we want to know. Your feedback goes directly to the product team, not a black hole.

Accessibility

We build better when you tell us what is broken.

If you use assistive technology or have specific accessibility needs, we want to hear from you. Early feedback shapes the defaults.
